OPED develops, manufactures and sells innovative product concepts in the field of our core competence – modern Orthosis.
Replacing the uncomfortable plaster cast with a light, functional vacuum splint was the vision of the OPED founders. Their vision became reality in 1993, when the VACOped – still the most successful OPED product, even today – came onto the market. However, the OPED spirit of invention was in no way satisfied with just the VACOped, which is the state-of-the-art treatment nowadays. The product range has been expanded to encompass an entire family of vacuum orthoses. Whether it is torn ligaments, Achilles tendon rupture or a fractured wrist: OPED products offer optimum care with the highest degree of mobility and hygiene.Vacuum Technology
VACO12 technology is the core technology of the VACO Products. A cushion filled with thousands of styrofoam pearls is surrounding the injured body parts. By the perfectly round shape of the pearls they can absorb 12 times the pressure each. When air is extracted from the cushion by using a pump, the body shaped cushion becomes hard (as a cast does), just in a few seconds. By opening the valve and letting air flowing inside the cushion, it becomes soft again and can be re-adjusted to the body part. Hence the Vacuum Technology avoids pressure to the body site and provides stability due to a perfectly shaped orthosis at any time.
The History of OPED
1992/1993 Andreas Haßler, Engineer and ski boot Developer, together with Professor Peter Habermeyer, Orthopaedic Surgeon, and his brother Stephan Habermeyer founded OPED GmbH. Their vision: To set up an orthopaedic company to manufacture their innovative and revolutionary vacuum splint, offering the most state-of-the-art alternative to the old method of plaster casting.
The basic structure was the parent company OPED AG (Switzerland) and the subsidiary OPED GmbH in Valley/Oberlaindern (Germany).

At the end of 2007, move to the current headquarters in Valley/Oberlaindern.
2008 Founding of the branch office, OPED Australia Pty Ltd.
2010 Opening of subsidiaries: Medizinpark Valley, Valife AG.
2011 Founding of the branch office, OPED United Kingdom Ltd.
2013 OPED Australia Pty Ltd. moves to new and bigger office located in North Wollongong, NSW.
2014 Founding of the branch office, OPED Asia-Pacific Co., Ltd., Taiwan
